摘要: In this talk, we will discuss one aspect of number theory via examples: deep connection between arithmetic and analysis. Some examples we have in mind include: representation number of an integer by a quadratic form (Siegel-Weil formula), BSD conjecture for elliptic curves, and Gross-Zagier formula.

杨同海教授简介：美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校终身教授、博士生导师，国际著名数论和算术几何学家，美国数学学会会士，国家级人才项目获得者，得到多项美国NSF的资助。他和张寿武、Kudla和Ono共享美国Focus Group Research基金。他对Kudla纲领的建立和发展作出重大贡献，在 Invent. Math.(4篇)， Duke Math. J.等著名期刊上发表论文多篇，并且合作出版论著3部。杨同海教授于2004年在美国创立Hometown Education Foundation, 并且和胡寄宁先生创办中美爱心教育促进会。基金会每年资助安徽、山西和甘肃等贫穷地区数千名学生的基础教育，为家乡教育的发展作出了重大贡献。
